Tom Varley, VP, Ocean Properties

Following his 1980 graduation from UNH, Tom Varley joined Hyatt Hotels as a Management Trainee. In 1984, he left Hyatt to join Ocean Properties as General Manager of what is now the Marriott Delray Beach.  In 1986, he was promoted to Regional Manager for Ocean Properties, and, in 1990, he became Vice President of Operations. 

Ocean Properties Ltd. is the third largest management company in the U.S. It was founded in the 1950s by Tom’s father-in-law, Thomas T. Walsh, and grew from a small family business to a multimillion dollar organization that operates 107 hotels, as well as restaurants, marina operations and boating tours, spas, and golf courses.

Among his accomplishments is the renovation of the Wentworth Hotel. in New Castle, NH. In 2003, after a $25 million modernization, this historic and grand hotel opened once again.

Tom is originally from New Jersey.  He and his wife, Heidi, have four children: Camden, Erica, Tess, and Mitchel.
